Another
splendid AGM took place on 28 March at Frithville village hall, near Boston
in Lincolnshire. Attended by over 70 members it once again started the club
year off in the best possible fashion.
Members
heard reports from the President, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and other
officers. The good news was that the club is in a financially healthy state
– a tribute to the 41 years in the job by Treasurer Richard Jackson.
Reports were made on the proposed Hands On event and the Great Challenge
both due to be held in Sussex in August 2009.
After
over 20 years Richard Pierce has decided to stand down as a committee
member. Both he and Michael Davies were elected Vice Presidents. Simon
Fisher has rejoined the committee and Richard Eastwood is a new member.
The Steam
Plough Cup was presented by Richard Pierce to John Collins for his lifetime
of interest in steam ploughing.
After the
meeting was concluded, members enjoyed another of Sandra Ware’s splendid teas
and following a social break slides showing steam trains in China were
enjoyed being shown by David Eatwell.
Earlier
during the morning, members were treated to a visit to Robert Crawford and
Sons premises nearby to see the many engines and items of interest on show
there.
Club
Chairman Roger Hales said “This was another splendid occasion for the club.
I was delighted to see so members come such a long way to the meeting and it
was particularly pleasing to see the younger generation well represented”.
