Harold Bonnett
Founder of the Steam Plough Club
Harold Bonnett was captivated at an
early age by the sound and sight of engines passing through his village in
Lincolnshire. He subsequently joined the Great Northern Railway and worked
for the railway all his life. But his real love was the steam plough and he
founded the Club in 1966.
Joe Challis
Steam Ploughman
Joe Challis first drove an engine
at the age of nine and the club was pleased to celebrate his 90th birthday
on the footplate. Joe led a steam ploughing gang in the 1930s.
He was an enthusiastic member of the club and provided much help and advice.
