The Steam Plough Club
- keeping ploughing engines, tackle and the old skills alive
The Steam Plough Club has over 400 members world wide interested in steam ploughing with its engines and implements, personalities and
rich history. Founded in 1966 by the late
Harold Bonnett the club is about keeping the tackle
operating; not just the machinery but passing on the old skills too. Members of our Club would be pleased to have your help and
assistance so that together we can give the steam plough engine its
proper place in the history of British agricultural engineering.

THE SECRETARY
Plans for a Great
Challenge in 2012 are already under way, it is to be held on the 18th
& 19th of August 2012 in Oxfordshire, see
News page
for further details.
The Club hopes to arrange a Hands On Weekend in
August 2012 to give members an opportunity to learn from the
experts, to drive an engine and steer the plough. Contact the Secretary for
details.
Your Opportunity
The club has a
reputation for well organised events in an informal setting. Members have
every opportunity to participate whether they have engine ownership or not.
This is your chance to leave your arm chair, put on your boots and live real
steam on the land.
safety
The Steam Plough Club
has introduced safety guidelines for cable cultivation at public events. These
have been incorporated into the National Traction Engine Trust code of practice.
This information
will be particularly relevant to rally organisers and those planning cable
